Teeth Whitening In Edmond, OK

Why Should I Get Teeth Whitening?

Because stained teeth can make you feel self-conscious about your smile. Our teeth go through a lot over time. Drinks like coffee and wine can stain them, as can tobacco use and some other lifestyle habits. Aging also makes teeth look more yellow. With teeth whitening from our Edmond dentist at Revive Dental, you can reverse these stains, brighten your grin, and feel confident about your smile once again. The Teeth Whitening Treatment Process

Cosmetic consultation

First, you’ll meet with Dr. Ronisha Durham to discuss your options for cosmetic treatment. Teeth whitening is a great option for most patients, but there are some cases where it may not be appropriate, or a different procedure might be a better option. Together, you can decide if teeth whitening is right for you.

In-office teeth whitening

In-office teeth whitening is great if you want fast results. Dr. Durham will clean and prepare your teeth, and protect your gums, lips, and tongue. Then, she will apply a powerful whitener to the surface of your teeth and use a special UV light to “activate” the whitener. After a few minutes, she’ll rinse away the whitener. This process may need to be repeated several times, depending on your desired level of brightness.

Take-home teeth whitening

If you choose take-home whitening treatment, Dr. Durham will begin by taking impressions of your smile. She will send these to a dental lab. The lab will make a set of reusable whitening trays, custom-fitted for your teeth. You’ll come back to pick them up in a few weeks. Dr. Durham will also give you a set of professional-grade whitening products, and instructions on how to whiten your teeth. Follow her instructions and enjoy whitening your smile in the comfort of your own home.

Can You Whiten Veneers Or Crowns?

No. Veneers and crowns do not react to chemical teeth whiteners, and cannot be whitened. If you have dental work like veneers or dental crowns and need teeth whitening, Dr. Durham will work to whiten your smile until your teeth match the shade of your dental work. This ensures even, seamless results.

How Long Do Teeth Stay White?

This depends on your lifestyle and how well you take care of your teeth. Most patients will see the best results for 1-2 years after teeth whitening. You can prolong your results with good oral hygiene, six-month cleanings at Revive Dental, and whitening toothpaste, among other steps. Dr. Durham can provide you with more information about how to maintain your results.
